As far as we know, Jeff is the only marketing guy who studied astrophysics. After realizing what astrophysicists actually do, he left the University of Chicago for an advertising job at Leo Burnett in Chicago. Jeff worked at Ogilvy & Mather in New York and Mullen in Boston before launching Berman Creative in 2002.

Kushagra Mallick is the Founder & CEO of SelfServe, a VC-backed hospitality tech startup redefining the guest experience for boutique and independent hotels. SelfServe replaces the traditional front desk with a mobile-first platform that lets guests book amenities, message staff, plan activities, and control their room, while giving hotels real-time analytics, automated staff workflows, and guest profiling that drive both satisfaction and revenue.

A TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) alumnus, Boston Chapter Finalist, and Global Best Business Plan Award winner, Kushagra went on to turn his entrepreneurial drive into a real company. He built SelfServe from the ground up at Boston University's Questrom School of Business, leading all founder-led sales to close 12 enterprise clients, secure a pre-seed round at a $1.8M post-money valuation, and earn a seed offer at a $5.6M post-money valuation.

Kushagra is passionate about the future of technology in service industries, specifically how predictive guest data, automated workflows, and branded digital experiences can give independent hotels the edge previously reserved for large chains. He believes boutique hotels are one of the most underserved segments in software and is building the platform to fix that.

Mourad Mokrani is an operator, founder, and startup ecosystem builder currently working at the intersection of entrepreneurship, venture capital, and early-stage technology in Boston. He currently serves as chief of staff at SelfServe and works closely with founders, investors, and startup communities across strategy, operations, partnerships, and growth initiatives.

\r\n

Mo’s entrepreneurial journey began through TYE Boston (TiE Young Entrepreneurs) in 2021 during his senior year of high school. Entering the program with zero exposure to startups or entrepreneurship, he quickly became immersed in customer discovery, business model development, pitching, and collaborative problem-solving. That experience fundamentally changed the trajectory of his undergraduate education and early career and introduced him to Boston’s startup ecosystem for the first time.

\r\n

Since then, Mo has gone on to be a founder and chief business officer of a climate-focused EV charging startup, work with early-stage founders and angel investors, support startup fundraising and operations, and help organize founder and investor events throughout the Boston ecosystem. He has also worked with local companies and organizations, including his ongoing work supporting TBD Angels on the operations team and a previous internship with Third Rock Ventures on their finance team.

\r\n

His passion extends to helping founders navigate the uncertainty of building early-stage companies while fostering stronger connections across the entrepreneurial community. Coming full circle from his time as a TYE participant and graduate of the program in 2022, he now supports aspiring entrepreneurs through programs like Techstars Startup Weekend Boston, hoping to provide the same guidance and exposure that shaped his path.
