Organized by KHIDI USA, Korea Biohealth R&BD Night brings together researchers, biotech and health-tech innovators, industry professionals, and other stakeholders interested in Korea–U.S. R&D collaboration and commercialization.
The evening begins with the Korea R&D Investment Strategy Seminar, where TIPA (Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs), KEIT (Korea Planning & Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology), and KHIDI (Korea Health Industry Development Institute) will share their 2027 R&D investment priorities and support programs. The program also features concurrent sessions in the Havana and Santo Domingo rooms: a Grant Writing Seminar focused on U.S. and Korean funding opportunities and a Biopharma Dealmaking session exploring both sides of the negotiating table.
As the first R&BD event under KHIDI USA’s expanded R&D support activities, the evening reflects our broader effort to connect researchers and institutions, facilitate funding and R&D collaboration, and bridge promising research toward industry partnerships and business development.

The session closes with a panel discussion featuring Taewon Yoon (Yuhan USA) and Sangyeul Han (Ingenia Therapeutics), who will unpack the practical realities of navigating biopharma dealmaking from both directions.

Presented as part of KHIDI USA's expanded support for R&D and early-stage research activities, this seminar is designed for researchers and anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of the grant application process. Four speakers will walk through different facets of grant writing, offering practical guidance and key considerations for building a competitive proposal. Yeonsik Choi (Yonsei University) will discuss the NIH K99/R00 and the transition from postdoctoral research to research independence. Bekay Ahn (ICNPM) will share strategies and key considerations for NIH R01 applications. Sunghwan Cho (GelTech Labs) then turns to the SBIR program, the federal mechanism that funds small businesses developing and commercializing new technology, walking through what actually makes a proposal stand out. Hyunchul Kim (KHIDI USA) closes out the formal talks with guidance on winning Korean R&D grants and responding to reviewer feedback, before opening the floor for a Q&A session.
